As a type of thermal insulation material, rubber-plastic insulation boasts numerous excellent properties and has a wide range of applications—particularly in the construction industry. However, its fundamental—or rather, core—feature remains its heat-insulating capability. So, do you know what the principle behind the heat-insulating performance of rubber-plastic insulation is?
Speaking of this issue, we must start with the structure of rubber-plastic insulation materials. This material is a closed-cell foam produced by processing rubber through a series of manufacturing steps to create a substance densely packed with tiny air bubbles. Since these air bubbles are all sealed off, they effectively prevent heat from escaping outward and block cold air currents from entering the equipment. As a result, the material provides excellent thermal insulation and cold isolation—this is one of the key principles behind the insulation performance of rubber-plastic materials. Moreover, rubber-plastic insulation materials have low density and a low thermal conductivity, making them highly effective at preventing cold transmission, insulating against heat, and inhibiting condensation. With their low and stable thermal conductivity, they offer outstanding insulation performance regardless of the type of thermal medium involved.
A low moisture permeability is also a contributing factor. Because rubber-plastic insulation materials have low moisture permeability, moisture from the outside environment finds it difficult to penetrate into the material, thus avoiding any adverse effects on the material itself. As a result, the thermal insulation performance of rubber-plastic insulation materials remains unaffected. Moreover, unlike other thermal insulation materials, rubber-plastic insulation materials come equipped with both a protective layer and a waterproof layer. These layers effectively trap heat within the material, preventing it from escaping, thereby significantly enhancing the material's ability to insulate equipment.
